Mighty Poplar joins host Stephen Kallao

On the World Cafe, some of the best bluegrass players have gotten together to create a new supergroup, and the results are sublime. Meet Mighty Poplar, a supergroup featuring members of Punch Brothers, Leftover Salmon, Billy Strings and Watchhouse. The band says their new self-titled debut was a chance to play “real deal bluegrass” like Bill Monroe did over 75 years ago. They’ll perform songs from that album, plus talk about what makes bluegrass music so special.
