Suzanne Vega

Folkie Suzanne Vega Rocks On New Album And Has Hip-Hop Cred!

Singer songwriter icon Suzanne Vega is our guest for the full hour. Her new album Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles was just released today. Vega burst on the New York City folk scene in 1987 with her second album Solitude Standing and the song "Luka." It was later that a short a capella song from that album, "Tom's Diner," was remixed by DNA and became a pop sensation.

In 2010 Suzanne formed her own record company reissuing new recordings of her earlier songs. Her surprisingly diverse new album is her first release of new work in seven years. Live performances with Suzanne are from the stage of World Cafe Live in Philadelphia with guitarist Gerry Leonard. Join us for a wide-ranging discussion of her new work, the New York City folk scenes from the 60's to today, and hear about how "Tom's Diner" gave Vega hip-hop cred.
