Polica sure know how to make an entrance. We haven’t heard much from the Minneapolis-based synthpop group since their 2013 LP Shulamith, but this week they just dropped an avalanche of news, unveiling their new album, United Crushers, set to be released on March 4, 2016, premiering a music video for their new song “Lime Habit,” and announcing a massive nationwide tour, which includes a stop at Union Transfer.

The group started out in 2011 as a duo made up of singer Channy Leaneagh and producer Ryan Olson, but in the course of recording their 2012 debut Give You the Ghost, they decided to expand into a full five-piece band, featuring two drummers and a bassist.

On “Lime Habit,” the relatively stripped-down first single off United Crushers, Polica pick up right where they left off — Leaneagh’s alluring soulful vocals float on top of her band’s catchy yet unimposing synth foundation. Coupled with its colorful, fruit-filled abstract music video, “Lime Habit” is an easygoing, enjoyable track, which bodes well for the rest of United Crushers.

Polica is also set to be featured on World Cafe’s Sense of Place Minneapolis series in December. Check out the video for “Lime Habit” below. And if you’re really into planning ahead, you can already grab tickets for the band’s April 25th show at Union Transfer via the XPN Concert Calendar.
