After 25 years and more than 5,000 interviews with musicians from around the globe, this March David Dye steps down as host of World Cafe, public radio’s most popular music program. Celebrate David with us!

David Dye has hosted World Cafe since its launch on October 14, 1991. Now carried on more than 214 stations and heard by nearly 600,000 listeners each week, World Cafe has become known as an influential source for music discovery. In his recent memoir, Bruce Springsteen identified David as an important early supporter of his music.

David has overseen the release of 40 Live at World Cafe CDs and two World Cafe books, visited 19 musical hotspots around the globe for the show’s “Sense of Place” series, and has seen the show expand its reach with the addition of World Cafe Nashville, now producing sessions from Music City, USA.

David and World Cafe have received numerous awards, including two NFCB Golden Reel Awards, five "Best of Philly” awards from Philadelphia Magazine, NARAS Philadelphia Chapter’s "Hero Award," the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award, and many radio industry trade citations.
