Hanni El Khatib

One Man Rocker Hanni El Khatib Combines “Old Weird America” With A Modern Esthetic

May 20, 2013 - Hanni El Khatib is a first generation American who grew up with a Palestinian father and a Filipino mother in San Francisco. His music has origins in the 50’s and 60’s soul, blues, r&b and garage rock, and all those influences are filtered through a love of punk.

Will The Guns Come Out, his first album in 2011, was a raw profane blast that established the El Khatib esthetic. Now comes Head In The Dirt. The album is the product of time spent with The Black Key’s Dan Auerbach in his Easy Eye Nashville studio. If you love the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and The Black Key’s early records you are going to turn this one up until it distorts!
