Handsome Lady Records is the project of three New York City singer-songwriters – Will Knox, Alec Gross and Jake Hill – who shoot video of live, single-mic performances, recorded on a reel-to-reel tape deck. It’s not as intricate as The 78 Project – which records straight to acetate – but the principal is still there: capturing the immediacy and intimacy of performances in one shot, no retakes.
