Philadelphia will be positively present this year at SXSW
So there’s an official Philadelphia-centric music showcase at this year’s SXSW festival, and we’re psyched for it.
But that’s not the only showcase of Philly’s musical talent that’s going to be rushing Austin this week. Back in October, we heard that Cheerleader and Low Cut Connie landed showcases. Eventually, another slew of Philadelphia artists joined the lineup, including Philly bedroom rocker Alex G, sultry electronic duo Marian Hill, hip hop duo Moosh & Twist, alternative crooner Son Little and indie pop outfit CRUISR, among many others.
As the Philly artists continued to stack up, RECPhilly announced their official, all-Philly showcase on Friday, matched the next day with an unofficial Philly hip hop day party on Saturday, featuring MCs Quilly, Tiani Victoria, and City Rominiecki.
It’s safe to say Philly is pretty solidly represented in Austin this week, and so is XPN – which is involved in the Public Radio Rocks showcase on Friday afternoon. You’ll be able to tune in to a live stream of that between noon and 6 p.m. EST. And for those readers who are not making the trip to Austin (which, we’re guessing, is a lot of you), don’t worry – you’ll be able to follow the fun vicariously right here on The Key.
In the meantime, give a listen to some of the Philadelphians performing at SXSW below.
