Free at Noon Flashback: SIMO warms the crowd at World Cafe Live
Nashville-based SIMO braved Philadelphia’s cold weather and snowy forecast to perform XPN’s Free at Noon concert today. The blues rock trio filled World Cafe Live with an energetic crowd ready to hear their improvisational, soulful sound. SIMO has come into Philly just in time to prepare for their upcoming tour and soon-to-be-released album, Let Love Show The Way.
The southern rock tunes carried through the air as JD Simo kicked off the set with strong vocals and guitar, with Elad Shapiro on bass and Adam Abrashoff on drums. The band has collectively used this new LP to get down and dirty into their southern roots, throwing in some blues and psychedelic tones. Their improvisational guitar and drum solos set them apart from others, leading them into the spotlight.
Pouring love into the crowd, SIMO released vibes that echoed through every note. While the band would alternate between dominating solos, in the middle of the set, Simo and Abrashoff lit up the stage together as singer and guitarist joined in on the percussion behind the drums, keeping everyone on their feet.
The new album Let Love Show The Way is available for download on January 26, including three bonus tracks. Listen back to the Free at Noon and check out a photo gallery from the show below.
