Philly grindcore outfit The HIRS Collective returns this summer with THE THIRD 100 SONGS, a 105-song release (109 songs for Bandcamp customers) packaging together new tracks as well as compilation and soundtrack appearances, contributions to split singles, and various other bits of sound. The record is coming out on June 25th as a double-vinyl release on Get Better Records, the queer-centered punk label co-founded by HIRS’ Jenna Pup.

If it seems like a lot of content, consider that many of HIRS’ songs run 45 seconds and under, and their acclaimed 2018 debut LP Friends. Lovers. Favorites. packed 30 songs into 27 minutes. Clocking in at a minute 41, THE THIRD 100 SONGS‘ opening track “Love” is practically a HIRS epic.

The song is a blaze of blast beats, roaring riffs, and scorching vocals delivering a message of empathy and compassion, as Pup screams “no matter who you goddam are, you deserve love” again and again.

She tells Brooklyn Vegan that the song is “about us celebrating our existence and being excited to share love.” Watch the music video for the song below, and grab a pre-order at Bandcamp.
