Madonna expands her Celebration tour, including Wells Fargo Center stop in December

This summer, Madonna‘s classic self-titled debut turns 40 years old. To mark not only the milestone, but the breadth of her hit-filled catalog, the pop icon is going on her first large-scale world tour since before the pandemic this summer and fall, with newly announced dates stretching into 2024. While the initial run of dates had a string of Madison Square Garden shows as the closest Philly fans would get to seeing Madonna, the second leg of North American dates announced today includes a Wells Fargo Center stop on Wednesday, December 20th.

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 31st at noon, more information can be found at WXPN’s Concerts and Events page.

The tour features opening act Bob The Drag Queen, and for her December 22nd appearance at Nashville’s Bridgstone Arena, Madonna has announced that she will make the concert a benefit for trans rights organizations yet to be announced, in opposition to Tennessee’s recent criminalization of drag performances, as well as anti-trans legislation across the country.

In a statement, Madonna said “The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color. Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to fuck with a drag queen. Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community.”
