Gearing up for their sixth studio album STONE, Philly’s Baroness has released “Last Word”, a testament to their hard rock origins and the beginnings of what is soon to be a huge new chapter for this metal band. “Last Word” defines the direction of their upcoming release instantly with charged, fast-paced guitar and a steady drum rhythm that’ll have your head banging in seconds flat whether you like it or not.
This song is nothing short of epic. Creating a longer, more operatic song is not uncharted territory for the band, but as time has revealed, they nail it every time. “Last Word” deals with fate, demise, and all the soul-searching one may do in between. There’s a tension built in the verses that releases during the anthemic chorus, led boldly by vocalist John Baizley. The video released for the song is a visualizer of sorts, using dark imagery and stop-motion-style camera work to enhance the overall spirit of the track.
