Philadelphia-rooted singer-songwriter-producer duo Marian Hill are cooking up some new music for 2023. The first of two singles, “LEMME GO,” we’re sharing with you a day ahead of its release. It’s a punchy dance track with fierce independence in the lyrics, and we’re looking forward to hearing it live at Philly Music Fest in one month’s time.

Marian Hill’s last LP, why can’t we just pretend?, came out in 2022, and features one deep and dark club bop after another. It’s not surprising they remixed a Billie Eilish song, as the two artists come from a similar school of minimal electronic pop and introspective lyrics. “LEMME GO” is no difference, except it’s a touch brighter and more playful.

The new track features friend of the band, writer Mark Johns. Marian Hill had this to say about the song: “for the past year we’ve been on a sabbatical of sorts, taking time to flesh out our solo endeavors, but we still stole some moments to jam together every now and then. This song was a product of one of those sessions, and we haven’t been able to get it out our heads since.”
