Two iconic Irish musicians passed away in 2023 — Sinéad O’Connor, who died at age 56 in July, and Shane MacGowan of The Pogues, who died at age 65 in December. Both artists were singular in work and wildly influential across their career, and some of the artists they inspired will gather at New York City’s Carnegie Hall on March 20th to pay tribute.

Slated to take part in this musical celebration are a roster of XPN favorites who were peers, and in many cases friends and collaborators, of both artists: The Mountain Goats, Cat Power, Glen Hansard (who sang at MacGowan’s funeral), Bettye Lavette, and David Gray. The lineup for the Sinéad & Shane tribute also includes Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello, Julia Cumming of Sunflower Bean, Kat Edmonson, Dropkick Murphys, and the Resistance Revival Chorus.

A variety of VIP packages to the tribute are available now through promoters City Winery; general admission tickets will be available January 22nd through the Carnegie Hall website.
