Mitski has revisited the heartfelt, environmentally-conscious folk anthem “Coyote, My Little Brother,” a tune popularized by Pete Seeger but written by Peter La Farge. She’s given it her own touch in the past, including intimate renditions at a cozy acoustic NYC show and on BBC Radio 2 last fall. Now, she’s poured her soul into a fresh recording for Spotify Singles.

Accompanying the cover is a stripped-back acoustic version of her own track, “Buffalo Replaced,” from the most recent album she’s been touring since January The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We. Both tracks were recorded in the heart of NYC, with Mitski joined by her trusted collaborators: Patrick Hyland on acoustic guitar and Jeni Magaña on double bass, mirroring the lineup from those past acoustic performances.

Mitski ends her tour next month in Nashville but you can catch her and a slew of amazing openers at Merriweather Post Pavilion late August into September. As for right now, dive into the stripped-down–extra emotional–beauty of this new singles album, you can give them a listen below.
