Wait, did the record skip? Nope. After a SXSW appearance, brass band SNACKTIME is once again touring with Portugal. The Man this spring and summer, stopping at NON-COMM at World Cafe Live this May.

“The tour so nice, we had to do it twice. We are so insanely FIRED UP to be joining our family Portugal. The Man, supporting them throughout the great state of Colorado, and up to the Pacific Northwest, including the ICONIC Red Rocks Amphitheater,” shared SNACKTIME in a recent statement. “Last winter, when we played Vail and Denver, the band collectively manifested a Red Rocks Performance the following year. For those manifestations to happen is absolutely unreal. This tour culminates in Portland, Oregon for Portugal. The Man’s homecoming show, and being part of that is so sweet just in itself!”

Formed during the middle of the pandemic, SNACKTIME (originally called Snacktime Brass Band), started performing their fusion of funk, soul, pop and R&B in Rittenhouse Square. Originally a brass band, they’re made up of Yesseh Furaha-Ali (Vocals, Alto Sax, Percussion), Sam Gellerstein (Sousaphone), Austin Marlow (Drums), Larry Monroe, Jr. (Guitar), Eric Sherman (Trumpet/Guitar), Michael Spearman (Trombone, Keys) and Ben Stocker (Tenor Sax).

Since the pandemic, SNACKTIME has done events fusing music and food with Marc Vetri, Jose Garces, and Michael Solomonov, as well as performing for the Philadelphia Sixers, Phillies, and Union halftime shows. Their debut album, SOUNDS FROM THE STREET: LIVE dropped in 2022. And in February, they released a new single, “THE HIGH LIFE.”

The two bands also collaborated on a killer combo cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” and “Give it Away” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, titled “Rage,” according to the YouTube video Portugal. The Man posted April 15th. In a custom Sixers jersey, Sam Gellerstein’s Philly spirit comes alive as he leads vocals. It’s truly awesome.
