WXPN’s Concert Picks: XPoNential Festival, DOMi & JD BECK, Coltrane tribute, more

Before we get into the individual shows happening over the next week, we want to remind you that our XPoNential Festival is taking place Friday through Sunday in Wiggins Park at the Camden Waterfront! This year’s lineup includes Dawes, Portugal. The Man, Little Feat, Ratboys, Devon Gilfilian, Mackenzie Johnson, Madison Cunningham, and many more local and national artists. Now, onto our weekly concert picks.

Friday: Catbite at Spruce Street Harbor
Philly ska darlings Catbite are performing for free at Spruce Street Harbor Friday night. They’ll be joined by Chris Farren (who in 2021 directed Hurry’s “It’s Dangerous” video) and Megg. Watch Catbite’s full set from NON-COMM 2023 right here.

Saturday: Pat Metheny at Miller Theater
Jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, who’s known for playing a 42-string guitar and winning a whopping 20 Grammy Awards, is coming to Philly with his new ensemble, Side-Eye III+, as they celebrate the release of their debut album, also called Side-Eye III+.

Sunday: Damien Jurado at Ardmore Music Hall
Prolific indie rock artist Damien Jurado is scheduled to perform on the Main Line with support from fellow Seattle artist St. Yuma to end the weekend. Jurado has released a ton of music in 2026, including a staggering six studio albums on his own label, Maraqopa Records.

Monday: DOMi & JD BECK at Brooklyn Bowl
Wunderkind jazz-inspired keys-and-drum duo DOMi & JD BECK went quiet for a few years after dropping their first album in 2022. The two released WHO ASKED? in late July and are now out on tour supporting their sophomore album. Watch their 2022 Tiny Desk performance here.

Tuesday: Pokey LaFarge at Ardmore Music Hall
Old-time blues, folk, country, and swing music torchbearer Pokey LaFarge is on the road after releasing his latest album, Rent Money, on his own label, Boxer Boy Records. At his Ardmore gig, he will be joined by Georgia folk trio Cicada Rhythm.

Wednesday: John Coltrane Tribute Concert at LOVE Park
Philly’s music community is hosting numerous events to celebrate the 100th birthday of jazz legend John Coltrane. Among them is a free tribute concert to honor the groundbreaking musician who called Philly home hosted by our friends at WRTI. The show will feature saxophonist Jaleel Shaw, Alex Claffy on bass, and Jeff “Tain” Watts on drums.

Thursday: Altın Gün at Union Transfer
Dutch-Turkish psych-folk rockers Altın Gün released their sixth album, Garip, back in February and are on a victory tour with Alex Maas that’s bringing them to Spring Garden Street venue.
