Packed Fillmore crowd had eyes glued on Suki Waterhouse, not their phones

Suki Waterhouse knows all her angles and knows how to pose. Throughout her entire show at The Fillmore she was enjoying herself on stage, dancing seamlessly, and interacting with fans. In one instance, Waterhouse was singing her most popular song “Good Looking” and saw a fan at the barricade, crying and breaking down.

“I see this fan crying, you’re going to make me cry,” Waterhouse said in response.

You can just feel the emotion that song has on people and hearing it live was a surreal experience celebrating music live. This is also one of the very first times, aside from when she started the show that night, when many fans were recording Waterhouse, as the show was mainly an observing and laid-back vibe. But not only were fans recording Suki, some were recording themselves singing along to the song in the moment.

She recovered herself towards the middle of the show, when many fans weren’t really engaging with the show, kind of hanging around. Still fans all around the venue were singing together, getting emotional and simply admiring the artist. This was the first time I’ve ever been to a show where there weren’t as many phones as possible out, with the audience showing genuine appreciation towards the artist.

Waterhouse is more known for her slowed down, slower tempo, mellow vibe songs—but her upbeat songs don’t do her justice. The song “Puppy Dog Eyes Really” set the night’s tone, and the entire theater was dancing and enjoying that upbeat feeling. It was a great break from the slow mellow beats, which was very much needed.
