Culture Corner: Revisiting DJ Shadow’s ‘Endtroducing…..’
Maybe there’s an album you remember hearing for the first time that felt like it opened up a whole world of what music could be. For World Cafe correspondent John Morrison, one of those was DJ Shadow‘s 1996 debut studio album, Endtroducing…...
“I was 16 years old, and as a young beat maker and wannabe bedroom DJ, hearing this, it just blew me away,” Morrison says.
Coming up on a new Culture Corner, Morrison talks about how DJ Shadow made the album and the variety of samples he combined:
“It’s a collage of sounds, but also a collage of cultures, a collage of different moments in time — a drum will come from the ’60s; a horn will come from the ’80s,” he says.
