Bedouine builds a home for herself on ‘Neon Summer Skin’
What are the things that immediately take you back to childhood? Maybe it’s the theme music from a TV show your parents used to watch, the taste of a popsicle in the summertime or the smell of chlorine after swimming. It’s the simple little things that bring on that beautiful, bittersweet feeling of nostalgia.
Today, we’re talking with singer-songwriter Bedouine, whose fourth album, Neon Summer Skin, is a meditation on childhood and on what it means to leave childhood behind and realize you can never really go back.
Bedouine, whose real name is Azniv Korkejian, spent much of her childhood in Saudi Arabia. Coming up, she talks about her own relationship with nostalgia and memory, and what it means when “home” isn’t just one place, but more of a feeling.
