Why XPN members listen and give, in their own words.

Beth Stanfield, WXPN member

Beth - Wayne, PA

“From my morning alarm waking me up to XPN, listening at work and in the car – WXPN fills my day and always makes it better. I love you guys. You are on so much in my house, you feel like family.”

Justin Solonynka, WXPN member

Justin - Elkins Park, PA

“I’m a music teacher, and my daughter and I drive together to school every day. WXPN is our go-to station to hear the perfect combination of songs from my era along with great new music. There’s so much for both of us to discover!”

Alyssa Alday, WXPN member

Alyssa - Voorhees, NJ

“I’m a zoomer that recently went back to physical media and radio after cutting the cord on streaming services. I’ve been introduced to so much great music thanks to you! Thank you for all the work that you do!”

Dave Superstad, WXPN member

Dave - Little Falls, MN

“Discovered WXPN thru World Cafe in 1997 and believe it’s why my daughter now lives in Philly! (GO Birds!) Now we stream WXPN all day at our bicycle shop and it seems at least once a day a customer says, I like your music, what station is that? Also donating because I know how short life is and we need to let those we care about know it. We care about WXPN!”

Ian Magill, WXPN member

Ian - Kennebunkport, ME

“In a world that is becoming increasingly run by algorithms, market research, and artificial intelligence, WXPN provides me with a sense of humanity.”

Laura Rathsmill, WXPN member

Laura - Philadelphia, PA

“I was raised on WXPN and even with the internet and social media, it’s still the primary way I learn about new music.”

Danielle Levsky, WXPN member

Danielle - Philadelphia, PA

“I love listening to WXPN, the curated experience of music, the thoughtful compilation of music history, music trivia. The programming is fun and funny. I love learning about new local Philly artists.”

Simona Josan, WXPN member

Simona - Haddon Township, NJ

“I teach art at Temple University, and during my drawing classes, I often play music in the background. Most of what I play are artists I discovered through XPN. It makes me feel more connected to my students and also excited to share with them something they may not have heard. Thank you for making me feel cool?”

Nick Clabbers, WXPN member

Nick - Phoenixville, PA

“I grew up listening to Kids Corner and XPN with my parents in the car. As an adult, I listened online even when I lived out of state. Now, I’m back in the area, have a child of my own, and play XPN for him on our way to school every day! Thanks for everything you do for the music lovers of today and the next generation.”

Melissa Rybarczyk, WXPN member

Melissa - Orchard Park, NY

“I could write an essay on what XPN means to me. You are the soundtrack to all parts of my day, every day! But recently my teenage son has become an active listener and I love our chats about what we hear together, and rocking out at times! Thank you for giving us such an amazing mix of music that we could never get anywhere else. Much love from Buffalo, NY!”

Andrew Mathas, WXPN member

Andrew - Lumberton Township, NJ

“I’ve discovered many new artists because of WXPN — I listen as a way of feeling better. Not purely as an escape, but because of the sense of community and the general feeling of positivity and hope that I feel thanks to WXPN.”

Megan Haines, WXPN member

Megan - Frederick, MD

“Every Friday I would pick up my boyfriend from the R5 Malvern stop and we’d listen to Funky Friday on the drive back to my apartment. We’ve been married now for 20 years and we still love Funky Friday!!”

Lexi Peskin, WXPN member

Lexi - Philadelphia, PA

“I love XPN. I’m frequently a few minutes late for work because I have to finish listening to an awesome new song I wouldn’t hear anywhere else. Thank you for being a part of my routine!”

Bob Conrow, WXPN member

Bob - Pottstown, PA

“I ditched a streaming service (good riddance) to become a 1st time member because y’all are the soundtrack to my life! ‘Back in Time’ with my son on the way to school, to being my copilot on long commutes, to Land of the Lost and What’s the Frequency keeping me company at my part time job, you bring the love for music that burns in my heart every show, every day!”
