Broken Social Scene has spent decades creating music that is intense, chaotic, cathartic and deeply human.

And that continues on their first album in nine years, Remember the Humans. Today, Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew talks about why coming together, as people, is so important:

“Friendship is the greatest protest that we do have right now, and I think it’s something that needs to be a bumper sticker for people to remember, as we’re moving forward in these times, because they are very, very tricky,” he says.

Drew also talks about the band’s friendship, with each other, as well as with the members of Stars and Metric, whose recent tour with Broken Social Scene brought up a lot of emotions for both the bands and the audience.

“We are in the memory-making business. That’s what we’re doing,” he says.
