Anthony Green and Zayna Youssef’s Porno For Pyros cover supporting animal rescue groups
The two vocalists dropped a cover of “Pets” by Porno for Pyros Tuesday. A portion of the 7″ vinyl’s proceeds will be donated to Philly’s Street Tails Animal Rescue and Minnesota’s The Bond Between.

Two of Philly’s premier emo vocalists have teamed up for a cover of alt rock supergroup Porno for Pyros’ song “Pets,” and for a good cause.
Anthony Green (of Circa Survive, Saosin, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, and more) and Zayna Youssef of Sweet Pill dropped the cover Tuesday. Watch the video below.
The video features footage from Green’s recent UK tour, including his band’s Wembley Stadium debut opening for My Chemical Romance.
“I was 12 years old when I first heard [“Pets”],” Green said. “I only knew about Jane’s Addiction because of my older brother, Mike, who introduced me to all the cool music I grew up on. Before I even pressed play, I remember staring at the CD artwork and thinking it had to be amazing.”
Green said Perry Farrell’s vocals enthralled him, and the idea of Farrell making music with a wholly different groove and mood than Jane’s Addiction boggled his mind.
“It lived in the same creative universe while carving out its own identity, and that always stayed with me,” he said.
Green stumbled back on “Pets” while strumming some chords after playing his 2016 song “East Coast Winters.”
“I was messing around on these two chords and found myself singing this melody,” he said. “Suddenly everything clicked into place. It felt like I was revisiting the song from a completely different point in my life, where its sentiment somehow feels just as relevant—only in an entirely new context.”
The cover song is available on a 7″ vinyl, which also includes a remix of Green’s unreleased track “Reconcile,” reworked by Psychic Babble—the moniker of Circa Survive founding member Colin Frangicetto—on the B side.
Twenty-five percent of profits from the vinyl release will be donated to two animal rescue groups: Street Tails Animal Rescue in Philadelphia and The Bond Between in Minnesota.
