Who They Are:
Been Stellar’s name may be a goofy pun on the name of a famous actor but the band’s music is a dead-serious argument for the necessity of rock music in 2024. The group is based in New York City but their members hail from a wide variety of places: Detroit, Brazil, and L.A. Their energy is reminiscent of earlier New York scenes – think the 70’s (Television, Ramones) or the early 2000’s (Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol) but their music is more influenced by the dreamy haze of bands like Ride, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine. The group describes themselves as “what you get when you leave the youth alone in a metropolis; they grow up. They make noise.” With a rousing Audiotree performance as clear evidence, the noise is sure to only grow.
