Beloved music publications reportedly hit with mass layoffs
BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have all reportedly been gutted by parent companies Veeps and Live Nation.
Several institutional music publications have undergone apparent layoffs, dealing a major blow to the music journalism industry.
According to Pitchfork, mass layoffs have impacted BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine.
Missing Piece Group General Manager Joe Sivick confirmed to WXPN that his team was made aware of layoffs at BrooklynVegan Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday, Sivick said he heard of layoffs at Alt Press and Goldmine, as well.
Pitch Perfect PR’s Jacob Daneman on X Tuesday evening said BrooklynVegan had been “gutted” and that “everyone” was let go from the publication.
“RIP Brooklyn Vegan,” Daneman said online. “Absolutely bewildering. Thinking of all the great people there and the unparalleled music coverage they’ve done over the years. Utterly unceremonious and moronic actions by Veeps.”
Veeps, now owned by Live Nation after being founded by Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden in 2018, is the parent company for all four outlets.
