Hannah Cohen mesmerizes Free At Noon crowd
Hannah Cohen was here at WXPN back in May to perform at our NON-COMMvention festival. She’s coming back to Philly Friday to play Free At Noon ahead of her show at 118 North in Wayne.

Singer-songwriter Hannah Cohen popped into the Main Hall at World Stage Friday for a Free At Noon performance ahead of her gig at 118 North in Wayne later in the evening.
Cohen, who performed at our NON-COMMvention festival in May, delivered an eight-song set for those tuning in on the radio and stream. Those who made it to the show were treated to an encore song, too.
She opened with “Dusty” from her latest album, Earthstar Mountain, then went into “Mountain” from the same record.
The statuesque performer was joined by a four-piece backing band who underscored her wispy vocals and gentle strumming with tasteful lead guitar, head-bobbing drum beats, smooth keys, and cool bass lines.
Her new single, “Golden Chain,” came next. The song, which has more than a quarter million Spotify streams since its debut in May, is a devastating tune that, despite its brevity and relatively sparse lyrics, delivers an emotional gut punch.
Lifting the room’s spirits back up, she played “Draggin'” from Earthstar Mountain, spurring some dancing on the floor, then played the (partial) title track from the album.
“Dog Years” came next, followed by what sounded like a new song titled “Real Time” on the setlist.
Her most popular song, “Summer Sweat,” closed out the broadcast. Cohen, like her NON-COMM performance, put her guitar down to wield the mic and move around the stage under the twinkle of a disco ball.
For those who made it to the show, they were treated to “Rag” as an encore.
She and her band will be joined by Star Moles Friday night at 118 North in Wayne.
