The Folk Show – 08.30.26

Sam and Louise Sullivan are one of Philly’s hottest musical acts at the moment. Their third album, Love & Devotion, has earned the attention not only of we at WXPN and Inquirer music writer Dan DeLuca, but also national outlets such as Paste, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, and Pitchfork.

Love & Devotion—recorded and produced at Kevin Basko’s home studio Historic New Jersey—is packed with various inspirations, but the pair’s history is rooted in the folk tradition, including Irish folk tunes.

They stopped by WXPN to guest on The Folk Show with outgoing host Ian Zolitor Sunday to discuss their musical backgrounds, fostered by their parents.

“We’re a folk band who’s trying to go pop,” Sam Sullivan joked.

In addition to working with Zolitor to create Sunday’s playlist, the siblings also performed a handful of songs live in the studio.
