Nostalgia’s Joe Lockwood & Morgan Walbridge keep it (mostly) local for Ears We Trust
Nostalgia Fishtown has a full calendar of shows after officially opening in June. Owners Morgan Walbridge and Joe Lockwood took time from their busy schedule to share what they’re listening to for Ears We Trust.
Philly’s newest and buzziest venue, Nostalgia, is officially up and running after owners Morgan Walbridge and Joe Lockwood worked for more than a year to give their DIY spot in Fishtown legitimacy.
With a calendar full of shows ahead, the two University of the Arts grads are living their dream. So what music inspires them? We asked Walbridge and Lockwood to jump in for this week’s Ears We Trust to share their current favorite songs and artists as Nostalgia becomes a must-visit Philly venue.

postergirl — “See You in the Morning”
postergirl is a femme-fronted Philly/NYC-based band, who actually played their first show at Nostalgia Fishtown. Danielle Dougherty is one of our favorite Philly vocalists, and she sounds amazing on this track! Their songwriting is fresh, inventive, and seamlessly blends a mix of different genres. It’s been really special for us to watch them grow since their debut at Nostalgia!
Norman David and the Eleventet — “Hit Me Now”
This is what Monday nights sounded like for us as UArts students! This is a live recording from the album “Crazy in Philly.” Norman started the Eleventet in 1980, and the group has been performing monthly at Plays & Players Theatre since the 2010s. Composed of incredible local musicians and several of our former professors, this ensemble is a huge inspiration to us.
Star Destroyers
Star Destroyers is a local collective of musicians Ajay, Kyon, Brushstroke, and Jonill. We love their sound and have been obsessed with this track since it came out. The music video is a must-watch, too!
Nick Lombardelli — “Floobie”
Maybe the most hidden gem of our selections is from Xebowaveaval, an album of video game music created by Nick Lombardelli. Nick is a brilliant Philadelphia composer, arranger, trombonist, and pianist whose arranging has reached national stages like the Super Bowl. Still, our absolute favorite track is “Floobie,” which is simply built around a single chord. Floobie is constantly on repeat in our house.
Gene Harris — “Losalamitoslatinfunklovesong”
This track by Gene Harris has become the unofficial theme song for Nostalgia Fishtown. Joe first stumbled across it on a run and was instantly hooked. It’s funky, soulful, and has beautiful vocal harmonies. It perfectly captures the warm, nostalgic aesthetic we built our entire venue around.
