The fourth annual Sing Us Home music festival is this weekend on Venice Island in Manayunk. The three-day event is packed with bands and will feature plenty of food and drink vendors over the course of the festival.

On tap this year are The Mountain Goats, The Menzingers, an Augustines reunion, Dave Hause & The Mermaid, and many more bands, artists, and collaborations. Festival goers will also be treated to a salute to Lilith Fair, the Hause Family Campfire, a panel from Blood Harmony Records, and even a special surprise set.

Sing Us Home founder and local rocker Dave Hause said since the festival’s launch in 2022 it has become a bit of a family reunion.

”I’m just so excited to see family,” Hause said

And the familial feeling extends beyond the regulars, such as The Menzingers.

“Each one of those artists [at the festival], we hand selected and really want them there,” Hause said. “We throw our arms pretty wide open to accept everybody there and let them know that we want them to be part of the family.”

The full festival lineup is featured below.

Among newcomers this year is indie rock outfit Church And State™.

“Rick Barry is the songwriter in that band, he’s terrific,” Hause said. “But the drummer is John Stewart.” Yes, the same John Stewart from The Daily Show.

“That’s a, just a compelling story right there,” Hause said. “To know that he wants to be in a good old fashioned rock and roll band where you get together and practice and play shows. And that makes sense to me as a fan of his punditry and comedy and all that other jazz.”

Hause also shouted out Laney Lebo and The Flatliners as some other acts he’s excited for. Additionally, Big Boy Brass will serve as Artist At Large throughout the festival, and Ardmore Music Hall will host Brian Fallon at 8 p.m. Sunday for the festival’s afterparty.

“ We want to put on artists that are like-minded and have really compelled us artistically,” he said. “I think… I know that builds trust with the audience long term.”

In keeping that mindset, Hause said the festival has a great history with New Ridge Brewing Company due to their  ”punk rock approach” to building things out of nothing. Other vendors that will be at the festival include Troeg’s Independent Brewing, Humpty’s Dumplings, Calaveras Street Tacos, New Leaf Japanese Cuisine, Frios Gourmet Pops, and more.

“ It’s less a music festival than it is a cross between a family reunion and town fair almost, and that’s by design” Hause said. “We can’t get any bigger than, say, 3,500 people down there.  And also we just have held fast to what we think is cool. We love the Indigo Girls as much as we love Social Distortion, so we honor songwriting in any of its forms.”
