It was nearly a decade ago that Devon Gilfillian first appeared on World Cafe. Back then, he was an aspiring singer-songwriter from Philadelphia who had recently moved to Nashville.

Since then, he’s established himself as a must-see live performer, released three albums and recorded a song-for-song tribute to Marvin Gaye‘s What’s Going On.

His latest album, Time Will Tell, continues his exploration of rock, soul, R&B and country. Gilfillian calls it the record he’s been waiting his whole life to make, and he recorded it in one of Nashville’s most legendary rooms: RCA Studio A.

Today, he’s treating us to a mini-concert recorded this June, featuring songs from Time Will Tell. It’s always a pleasure to welcome an old friend back to the studio.
