Queen of Jeans’ new single “Why Hide” offers something different from the beloved indie-rock trio; instead of waxing on love lost, as songwriter Miriam Devora has excelled at in the past, the new song revels in the timid beginnings of a relationship. Hiding In Place, Queen of Jeans’ latest four-song EP, is out June 3rd, and the previously-released title track is available here

In a press statement, Devora describes the feeling behind “Why Hide” as being “right at the precipice of something before it all changes.” The song captures all the tension and butterflies of exploring someone new, which Devora shares was “fun to write,” and you can hear it. “You’ve got me safe in this place / Will you stay the night?” she sings in the chorus of “Why Hide” after a verse that sets up the trust building between the two.

Devora’s weightless vocals shine on this sunny and innocent track, supported by Queen of Jeans’ guitar-forward instrumentation. Watch the lyric videos for “Why Hide” below — the full EP Hiding In Place is out June 3rd. Tickets are still available for Queen of Jeans and Weakened Friends at Johnny Brenda’s May 22nd. Find them at the WXPN Concerts and Events page here.
