Joining us in the studio for this Indie Rock Hit Parade live session is a group whose globetrotting sound knows no borders. Based in Montreal, TEKE::TEKE (テケテケ) originally formed as an instrumental combo. Initially a one-off tribute to Japanese “eleki” icon Takeshi Terauchi, they quickly solidified into a formal group with original compositions. Inspired by Terauchi’s ’60s fusion records and ’70s movie soundtracks, TEKE::TEKE incorporate fuzz guitars, funk rhythms, cinematic orchestration, and punk energy into an instantly recognizable style.
Last year, TEKE::TEKE released their second full-length album, Hagata. They visited our studio during their spring tour to perform a set of highlights from that album (and beyond).
