Indie Rock Hit Parade Live Session: Yukimi

Joining us in the studio for this Indie Rock Hit Parade session is an artist who enters a new chapter as her primary band approaches a major milestone. As the lead singer of Gothenburg, Sweden-based Little Dragon, Yukimi Nagano has lent her elastic voice to nearly two decades’ worth of effervescent, mutating electronic pop. Following the release of the band’s most recent album, 2023’s Slugs of Love, Yukimi decided that her next project would be something more intimate. Working with Little Dragon drummer/producer Erik Bodin, Yukimi began to develop songs that skewed closer to jazz and soul than the trademark style of her main group. The result is For You, Yukimi’s debut solo album.

Earlier this spring, Yukimi visited our studio to showcase some of For You‘s many highlights. Her band, under the direction of Bodin, includes guitarist Mia Garcia, bassist Angelica Kvarby, and keyboardist André Karlsson. Together, they bring an confident cool to the new songs, elevating them beyond the bedroom hush of the album versions.
