How being ‘fake brave’ helped The Army, The Navy find real confidence
There’s something special about the bond between Maia Ciambriello and Sasha Goldberg, who make music together as The Army, The Navy.
Both grew up in the same town in the Bay Area, but they didn’t really connect until they got to Loyola University in New Orleans. They shared a vocal coach who suggested they become roommates, and they’ve been living and making music together ever since.
That closeness is at the heart of their debut album, Fake Brave Life, which takes the intimacy of their earlier work and expands it into something bigger, inspired by the sweeping soundtracks of movies like The Hunger Games and James Bond.
Coming up, Maia and Sasha talk about making Fake Brave Life and what it takes to fake confidence — and eventually find the real thing.
