Free At Noon, more WXPN events still happening despite World Stage’s impending closure
WXPN’s scheduled events at World Stage will not be affected by the venue’s upcoming closure.
News broke Monday about the impending closure of World Stage, the venue with which WXPN shares a physical space at 3025 Walnut St.
Philadelphia Inquirer music writer Dan DeLuca reported the venue will close after Oct. 31.
While this news has elicited many reactions from music fans online, we’re here to offer some reassurance: all of WXPN’s previously scheduled events at the venue will continue as planned.
This means all scheduled Free At Noon concerts, the Thank A Member Karaoke Party, and soon-to-be-announced Philly Anthems concerts are still happening. Side note: this week’s Free At Noon with our October Artist to Watch, Sam and Louise Sullivan, is taking place at Ardmore Music Hall. Register to attend online here!
In a statement Tuesday, World Stage President and CEO J. Sean Diaz said the venue is working with its ticketing partner to issue refunds for events scheduled after Oct. 31. Additionally, Diaz said the team is seeking to relocate shows and private events that will be cancelled due to the closure.
