Programming & Booking Internship
WXPN is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Programming & Booking Intern to support the Programming & Booking Coordinator in managing the administrative, operational, and production activities for NPR’s World Cafe and WXPN’s live events. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in music programming, event production, and broadcasting to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and creative environment.

Position Duration:
- Spring/Summer: May – August 2026
- Fall/Winter: September – December 2026
- Winter/Spring: January – May 2027
Hours:
10 – 20 /week
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with researching and coordinating details for artist bookings on World Cafe, including communication with artist management and preparation of guest materials.
- Support the administrative tasks of the Programming department, such as maintaining databases of artist releases and tracking performance agreements.
- Contribute to advancing and stage-managing weekly Free at Noon concerts, the annual NON-COMMvention, and the XPoNential Music Festival. Duties may include liaising with artists, assisting in production logistics, and ensuring smooth event operations.
- Help prepare interview prep files and show scripts for World Cafe hosts and assist in formatting and posting web DACS.
- Collaborate with the team to draft promotional content for upcoming World Cafe programs and other WXPN events.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a BA/BS program, preferably in Communications, Media Studies, Event Management, or a related field.
- Passion for music and familiarity with a wide range of contemporary music genres.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with live event production is a plus.
Commitment:
Applicants must have a minimum of 10 weekday hours available, 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday – Friday. Some evening and weekend availability may be required, depending on event schedules.
Compensation:
Unpaid internship. Academic credit may be available for eligible students.
