Why They’re WXPN’s Artist To Watch: Kucha, Zeimani, and BG Womack released their first single “Darling” in 2017, blending classic R&B in the vein of Darlene Love and The Ronettes with modern production techniques. In 2022, their EP, Legacy, dropped and continued their torch-carrying efforts by incorporating more soul, funk, gospel, and neo-soul into their tunes.

On Aug. 14, the sisters’ debut self-titled album released via Daptone Records and is an encapsulation of their family’s musical history (more on that below), as well as their ongoing push to modernize the genres while staying true to the roots and forebears.

You Might Know Them From: In 2022, The Womack Sisters covered Fleetwood Mac’s iconic song “Dreams,” putting their own spin on the track, complete with classic soul and R&B vocal harmonies and phrasing.

Fun Fact: The three siblings are members of a musical dynasty — their grandfather is the “King of Soul” Sam Cooke, their uncle is the late Bobby Womack, and their parents are Linda and Cecil Womack of Zekkariyas & Zeriiya (formerly known as Womack & Womack).
