Encore: José González joins host Stephen Kallao

José González is known for making melancholy music – sparse arrangements, performed on classical guitar, with dreamy vocals. On his latest album, Local Valley, the Swedish singer-songwriter has embraced a more playful and full sound – Plus, he sings in Spanish, English, and Swedish lyrics throughout. On this encore edition of the World Cafe, we’ll find out why González felt the freedom to experiment in these ways on Local Valley, and he explains one of the unusual ways he tests out a new song.
