Galactic + Irma Thomas joins host Stephen Kallao

When “The Soul Queen of New Orleans” Irma Thomas went into the studio with fellow Louisianians, Galactic, she did not fool around. Their new, collaborative album, Audience with the Queen, features 8 original songs, specifically written for Thomas. On the World Cafe, Galactic’s Robert Mercurio and Miss Irma join us to talk about making the album, including the noble efforts the band made to prepare the studio, only to find out why that wasn’t necessary.

Listen to the session here.
