Dermot Kennedy joins host Raina Douris

Dermot Kennedy first appeared on World Cafe back in 2018, after he played South by Southwest – and before he released his 2019 debut album, Without Fear. That album set Irish chart records and made him a star, becoming the best selling debut album in Ireland of the millennium. His latest album, The Weight of the Woods, came out earlier this year, and to finish off World Cafe’s Sense of Place: Dublin series, Dermot Kennedy shares a special pared-down performance, where you can really hear his voice shine. He looks back on his early days making music, including what he learned busking on the streets of Dublin, and shares stories about making the new record.
