Brandi Carlile joins host Raina Douris

When Brandi Carlile went to visit producer Aaron Dessner, it was supposed to be a sort of break after a busy few years – not the start of a new album. On the World Cafe, Brandi talks about writing a song there that catapulted her into making her latest record, Returning to Myself, as well as about playing blackjack with Joni Mitchell, and why it’s okay to never want to be alone.

Listen to the session here.
