World Cafe 30th Anniversary show with host Raina Douris
Through the Spring of 2022, we’re going back in time to revisit some of the best World Cafe moments for the show’s 30th anniversary. This week, it’s a twenty year-old session with John Mayer – He stopped by the Cafe just days before releasing his major label debut, Room for Squares, which went on to become his best-selling album and won him a Grammy. Plus, in a more recent conversation with Mavis Staples, we’ll hear the story of the time Dr. Martin Luther King requested the Staples Singers to perform his favorite song, “Why Am I Treated So Bad?” All that, and a new rising is inducted into World Cafe’s 30 under 30 list.
