Friday: Joe P at Ruba Club
Asbury Park basement rocker Joe P is rolling through Ruba Club to kick the weekend off right. The artist spoke with World Cafe back in 2023, and performed some songs as well. He’ll be joined by fellow New Jerseyan Sam MacPherson at the Friday night gig.
Saturday: Mitch-A-Palooza at Ardmore Music Hall
Mitch Beer of Stereo League is turning 45 and hosting a birthday show at Ardmore Music Hall. Stereo Leauge, The Commission, Brian LaPann Trio, Bo Rains, The Sharpness (Beer, his son Levi Rebel, and wife Bo Rains), and special guest DJ Hottub (WXPN’s own Bruce Warren) are sharing the bill. On top of Beer’s b-day, the event is serving as Stereo League’s 10th anniverary show while raising money for Philly Music Fest and Music Media Collective.
Sunday: Buddy Guy at Keswick Theatre
Blues guitar legend Buddy Guy (who turns 90 years old the day this roundup was published) is coming to the ‘burbs to ease you into the workweek with his signature style and wit. The polka dot guitar-weilding picker has influenced multiple generations of players, and most recently had a cameo in the Oscar-winning film Sinners.
Monday: Train at Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza
Grammy Award-winning, Diamond-selling pop rock superstars Train will be up in the Lehigh Valley as part of Muiskfest, with George Pippen supporting them. $1 per ticket will go to Family House San Francisco, which supports free housing and basic needs for the families of seriously ill young patients.
Tuesday: The Dear Hunter at Brooklyn Bowl
Experimental prog rock outfit The Dear Hunter recently released their ninth studio album, Sunya, and are out on tour supporting the record. They’re joined by Aussie post-hardcore band Closure in Moscow and K Sera.
Wednesday: The Happy Together Tour at Lansdowne Theater
Don’t miss this show if you love ’60s and ’70s tunes: The Association, The Troggs, former Chicago lead Jason Scheff, Gary Puckett, The Fortunes, Ron Dante from The Archies and The Turtles, The Vogues, and The Cowsills are all playing!
Thursday: The Isley Brothers at The Dell Music Center
Soul icons The isley Brothers will be at Philly’s own The Dell with Grammy Award-winning singer Stepanie Mills, who originated the role of Dorothy in the Tony Award-winning Broadway show The Wiz. Philly’s own funk band Breakwater is supporting, as well.
