Listen to Angel Band’s Free At Noon performance at World Cafe Live
From NPR Music:
A veteran of 1970s bluegrass bands such as Buffalo Gals, Nancy Josephson later let music fall by the wayside in favor of a successful career as a visual artist. But in 2006, her husband David Bromberg convinced her to jam with him and some friends — and Josephson was, once again, hooked by the music. She began the folk group Angel Band, which released its first album With Roots & Wings in 2007. Along with Kathleen Weber and Aly Paige, Josephson has wooed fans with her careful attention to three-part harmonies, citing gospel and traditional spiritual music as influences.
Josephson and multi-instrumentalist Marc Moss wrote and composed most of the songs on Angel Band’s latest release, Shoot the Moon, and brought the group to World Cafe Live in Philadelphia for an afternoon performance.
