The Blockley shut down for serving alcohol to minors
Collin Keefe over at Grub Street Philadelphia has just noted that The Blockley was shut down last night for serving alcohol to minors. The news comes via myfoxphilly; you can watch their report below.
Blockley Pourhouse, the popular drinkery for the collegiate set at 38th and Chestnut streets in University City, was shut down last night for allegedly serving minors. And we’re not talking about a lone coed or two who slipped past the door guy. Myfoxphilly reports that as many as 40 youngsters were hauled off after being caught drinking in the bar. Four bartenders were also reportedly arrested for failing to check the kids’ IDs before handing over drinks. Many of the college-aged revelers arrested arrived via chartered bus. State police and undercover liquor enforcement agents are said to have been waiting at the Blockley as students stepped off buses. The bar was closed for the remainder of the evening, and there’s no word yet when it will reopen. [myfoxphilly]
As Grub Street also notes, “Blockley is tweeting that tonight’s Tommy Conwell performance is a go.” (Thanks to @MilkBoyTommy for the heads up.)
