Listen to a new Icona Pop song called “Girlfriend” (playing The TLA on 9/22)
Swedish electro / dance duo Icona Pop have dropped a new song called “Girlfriend” that will be included on their forthcoming LP. As Consequence of Sound pointed out, the track covers Beyonce and Jay-Z’s “Bonnie and Clyde,” which sampled Tupac’s “Me and My Girlfriend.” Icona Pop’s timing couldn’t have been more perfect with the release of this song, as they sing “I wanna feel the sun, the waves, the wind in my face” while we are in the throes of the year’s first heatwave. Icona Pop have a show at The TLA on September 22nd with K Flay and Sirah; tickets and information can be found here. Stream “Girlfriend” below.
