Sean Hoots to Compose for Shakespeare in Clark Park
Sean Hoots of Philly indie roots/folk band Hoots & Hellmouth will be collaborating with the 8th annual Shakespeare in Clark Park. He’s creating original music for this year’s rendition of The Tempest, and it’s the first time the indie rocker has worked on a theater project. His last work was a two-song release by Hoots & Hellmouth titled “Repeat Myself / Off to Sea,” which you can stream on Bandcamp.
Director Adrienne Mackey says Hoots is giving music a larger role in the play and that they’re “creating moments in which the actors are suddenly possessed by the island through specific musical motifs.” The play is free, and will run from July 24th to July 28th at 7 p.m. in West Philly’s Clark Park. It takes place in the open air (so bring a blanket), and promises to be a “risk-taking” interpretation of the great playwright’s work. You can check out more information on the event here.
