Philadelphia power-pop group Mike Bell and the Movies released an original punk Christmas song this week called”American Christmas, Idiot!” The band, which features members from Algernon Cadwallader, Dogs on Acid, and The Weaks is donating all proceeds of sales from the song will go to local music education nonprofit Rock to the Future. The program works with over 300 Philadelphia students each year through after school and in-school programs, and summer camps.
Mike Bell and the Movies have supported Rock to the Future in the past. In 2012, the band played the Rock and Read festival at the Rotunda with The National Rifle, Oh Bree!, Ted Nguyent and The Rock to the Future All Star Band.
Mike Bell and the Movies are going to be be featured on an upcoming compilation from SuicideBong Tapes; they are also playing a New Year’s Eve show with Spirit of the Beehive, Left and Right, and Lizard Police at Everybody Hits, at 5th and Girard.
