Day two of the XPoNential Music Festival started off with a set from Vita and the Woolf on the Marina Stage this afternoon.

The brainchild of Downingtown, PA native Jen Pague, Vita and the Woolf is an electronic pop / soul project that draws comparisons to Florence and the Machine and James Blake.

On last year’s debut Fang Song, Pague was joined by a troupe of musician friends to build out her sound. But today’s line-up of just the singer / keyboardist and her drummer Adam Shumski paired well with the setting, letting Pague’s striking vocals take center stage. She can be strong and deep, like on the dirgy “Sun Drop,” or sweet and ethereal, hitting some crazy voice acrobatics on “Bury You.” Ending with the clap-along “MM Chka Mm,” about which Pague said “we’re playing this because Adam doesn’t like it,” it was a great showing of where the band’s been and where they are going.

Between songs Pague mentioned that she just finished tracking vocals for her next record yesterday, so keep an ear out for that in the coming months. Check out a photo gallery below, and listen back to the set here.
