Modern Baseball drop surprise EP MoBo Presents: The Perfect Cast

Did Modern Baseball just pull a Beyonce on us? This week, West Philadelphia’s favorite hometown heroes dropped a surprise EP via Lame-O Records. The record, entitled MoBo Presents: The Perfect Cast EP featuring Modern Baseball, features some songs that we’ve heard before. “Alpha Kappa Fall Of Troy The Movie Part Deux (2 Disc Directors Cut)” was originally released as “Alpha Kappa Fall Of Troy The Movie Part Deux” on Lame-O’s Strength in Weakness compilation back in February, and the four-piece released “The Thrash Particle” as a single earlier this month.

The six-track EP stays true to Modern Baseball’s sincere and raw lyrics with references to friends, past loves, and past references to past loves. These lyrics as well as others on the EP signify that MoBo’s sound will be evolving into something new. “…And Beyond” is a fun, breezy song which is much different from their older sound.

The Perfect Cast presents a nice combination of the band’s old sound, with forever-underdog gloom and the band’s new, maturing sound, which will be fully present on their upcoming full-length. Holy Ghost, the band’s third full-length, will be released sometime this spring on Run For Cover.

Modern Baseball will be embarking on a US headlining tour with PUP, Jeff Rosenstock, and Tiny Moving Parts this fall, which will close out with a show at Union Transfer on December 12th. Listen to The Perfect Cast below.
