#XPNDylanDay: Read Bob Dylan’s first Rolling Stone interview
To celebrate Bob Dylan’s 75th birthday today, WXPN is paying a 13 hour tribute to the greatest songwriter of all time. Dylan did his first interview with Jann Wenner for Rolling Stone magazine in 1969, and was published on November 29th of that year.
After repeated outreach, it took Rolling Stone’s co-founder, writer and publisher Wenner 8 months to finally land the interview with Dylan. During the interview Wenner and Dylan cover a wide range of topics including the making of Nashville Skyline, Blonde On Blonde, the various producers Dylan worked with, some of his favorite bands of the time, the lyrics to his songs, and Dylan’s reflections on when Wenner calls Dylan a “symbol of youth culture, being a spokesman for youth culture.”
